For people who feel stretched thin.
Not a yoga bootcamp and not a guru course. Surf & Stillness is a handful of slow days by the sea: the ocean in the morning, simple breath and meditation practice, good food, and room to hear yourself again.
Groups are capped at eight, so it never feels like a programme. Most people come on their own and leave with a few new friends and a practice they can actually keep.

Your host
I've been on the path to the self since I was thirteen or fourteen: ashrams, conversations with tantrics, pranayama, prana kriya, long sits, and a dark night of the soul that rearranged everything.
Today I live on Varkala's cliffs. I surf every morning, coach in the water at Sky's Surf School, work on my business, and spend the evenings at sunset, at temples or with friends.
I'm not a guru and I don't teach yoga. I'm a fellow seeker who surfs, sharing the practices that have actually helped me, in the place where I practise them.

Surf & Stillness: questions
Do I need to know how to surf or meditate?
No. Most guests are beginners at one or both. Surf groups are split by level, and the practices are simple and gentle.
Is this a yoga retreat?
Not mainly. The heart of it is surfing, breath and stillness. An optional yoga class with a certified teacher is available on most days.
Is it religious?
No. You're welcome to visit temples with us, and we share the traditions behind them, but there's nothing to believe or join.
Who is it for?
People who feel stretched thin and want to come back to themselves, without performance or guru culture. Most guests come solo.
Is it suitable if I have a health or mental-health condition?
Tell us when you apply. Some breathing practices aren't right for everyone, and we'll adapt or advise you honestly. This retreat is not therapy or medical treatment.
Do I need a special visa?
India's e-Tourist visa covers short-term yoga and wellness programmes. Check the official e-Visa site for your nationality.
When do retreats run?
In fixed small groups between November and March, the best months for learning to surf. See the dates above; if none suit you, choose 'Other dates' and we'll let you know about new groups.
How do I pay?
There's nothing to pay when you apply. We'll confirm your place personally and explain the deposit and payment options then.
