Standing up on whitewater waves by session 2–3.

You can stand and ride whitewater. Now it's time for green waves — reading the lineup, timing take-offs, and basic turns.

Varkala has waves year-round. Peak season (Nov–Mar) offers the best conditions for beginners. Monsoon swells (Jun–Sep) bring bigger waves for experienced surfers.

Do I need any surfing experience?
No. Beginner group lessons start with ocean safety, paddling and popping up, and most people are standing on whitewater waves by session two or three.
What is included in a lesson?
Every lesson includes a surfboard, rash guard and instructor. Beginner lessons also include a safety briefing and beach photos.
How much are surf lessons?
Beginner group lessons are ₹1,300–₹1,800, intermediate sessions ₹2,000–₹2,500 and private 1-on-1 lessons ₹2,500–₹3,000. Board rental is ₹500–₹800 a day.
What is the minimum age?
We teach ages 8 and up.
When is the best time to surf in Varkala?
Varkala has waves year-round. November to March is best for beginners; June to September brings bigger monsoon swell for experienced surfers.
